The group publisher honored its own for the first time on April 15, and the hierarchy eschewed plaques or other tchotchkes for what VP of talent acquisition Eliot Kaplan called "some- thing special." The result was the Suzanne Couture-designed Triangles that are patterned after Hearst Tower, and Couture tells min that the "five interlocking triangles were a feat of mathematics. All of the pieces had to be milled perfectly." The sculpture "was the hit of the evening," Kaplan says. "People were touching it, just like they do with the [Alexander Calder] Elephant stabile at the National magazine awards.
